haven't update in a while. and since i have lag time i might as well. Well it's my frist time actually going into LA and around, aside from the time of getting a car and then driving back. mais alors. since we decided that we would rather not come on friday and drive six hours down, we took a flight instead. wow the oakland airport was very busy, especially in the southweste section, i shoudl post some pictures of the sercurity line later. and this does not include bagage check in. it went form the building up a set of ramps to the indoor parkinglot outside, and sent for about about 200 yards and then back. once you entered that door it was a 20 minutes wait whcich was down the set of ramps, once you get to the area where you can see the bagage check in area it's a 10 minute wait, then once you can see the security checkpoint it was a 5 minute wait. i think we spent a total of 45 minutes waiting. but becuase the lines were efficient and long, it didnt' seem as long.
once at the waiting area i met erin, a friend from CBM (chinese bible ministry) that i've meet three yrs ago. CBM is a week long camp that basicaly talks about God and applies him to the real world. ie talkign abotu his divinity and how his humanity relates and works now. since we were on the same flight, ie she was visiting HMC and UCLA so through out the waiting period and plane ride we conversed through the general topics of norm. there wasn't any catchign up in that we had IM, but it was definately plesant to be able to see her afer two yrs, since i didn't go to CBM last year. non-sequitor, southwest desn't have seatting arrangements; hence you jsut go in one of three groups and pic your seats. quite nice and effecient. i prefered it since i was able to sit next ot erin and converse.
the trip was short though, i was only able to finish six problems in the bio packet. alors, we talked generally about schools, about where we might go. it we both got into the same schools, along with a third friend. with a few minor offshoots, the conversation was fairly general.
after we got off at LAX and were waiting at he airport it was quite breezy cooler than in San mateo. about 10 minutes after we got off, since there were arrivals waiting peopel were picking them up causing a traffic jam... and in one incident this taxi driver was trying to get through, but another ccar was in front truning in but he stoped becuase there was another in front of him. however; the taxi kept honckign believeing that hte other car could go further so it could pass. but since it didnt' the taxi hit the other car and it created a small ordeal. luckly the taxi had rubber pumpers instead of the standard plastic ones. when we, my mom and i, were picked up and driving along the highway to our friends house, i looked out the winded and gimpsed, "santa monica; left and long beach; right," peering to the side windows i saw a range and rather than with the fog similar to san fcansisco, they werecovered in tannish smog and below them were rows of palm trees. and in the ambience was the newest rap songs, on 102.7 -- all the steryotypes of entering into LA, "very nice."
